Barcan+Kirby’s Community Fund winners for 2024 announced
Award winning law firm Barcan+Kirby has announced the winners of the Community Fund for 2024.
Established in 2020, the initiative aims to support local not for profit organisations and charities in improving the community. This year, the firm gave away £5,000 of funding for organisations based in the postcodes around their five offices: BS1, BS3, BS7, BS15 and BS35.
This years’ selected winners are:
A Band of Brothers (BS1)
The charity offers mentoring for young men who are involved with the Criminal Justice System or are at risk of being so, helping them to become the adults they wish to be.
Library of Things (BS3)
The Library of Things makes it easier for everyone in Bristol to borrow household items and tools for repairs.
Mothers for Mothers (BS3)
Mothers for Mothers provides maternal mental health and wellbeing support to women, birthing people and their families.
Bishop Road Primary School PFTA (BS7)
The school’s PFTA is run entirely by parents and carers who volunteer to help raise money for the school. Our funding will help to replace the schools outdoor play equipment.
Family Food Action (BS7)
The charity promotes community engagement, awareness and relief of food poverty in Bristol. They distribute food to community partners working with families and children in need.
Mikey’s World (BS15)
Set up in memory of Mikey Roynon from Kingswood who tragically lost his life from a knife attack, Hayley, Mikey’s mum, set up the charity to give back to the local community and raise awareness of bleed kits to help save lives from knife injuries.
Made a Mark (BS35)
Made a Mark helps families dealing with the grief of losing a parent or sibling by providing memory boxes and supporting materials.
