City of Bristol College pass rates surge for another year
Every year, A Level results day is a significant milestone for City of Bristol College; offering a moment to reflect on the achievements of their A Level students throughout the academic year.
For many, it is a day of celebration, as many of the students embark on the next phase of their lives.
City of Bristol College who prides itself on academic excellence and student development, they have not only upheld strong pass rates but have also witnessed notable progress across a range of subjects.
The college’s overall pass rate of 97.4 per cent reflects a comprehensive approach to education, combining effective teaching, enthusiastic learners and a supportive environment.

There was an 8 per cent growth in students achieving A*- C grades overall
One of the most commendable areas is the 5 per cent increase in students achieving A* & A grades. This uplift reflects the dedication of both students and educators pushing for academic achievement.
There was also a substantial 8 per cent growth in students achieving A*- C grades overall. Speaking of the college’s success, Tim Livingston, head of Department – Academic Studies commented: “We are delighted to see so many of our students achieve such great results. To see their hard work and commitment to their studies pay off has been a real privilege.”
Amy Woodrow, director of Student Experience, Quality and Safeguarding, stated: “We are thrilled to celebrate outstanding achievements across a wide range of subjects, with a 100 per cent pass rates in 18 level 3 vocational courses and 14 A Levels.
“Our students’ exceptional performance in BTEC Computing and A Level Maths, surpassing national averages, is particularly noteworthy. The significant increase in English GCSE achievement rates for 16-18-year-olds, and the success of our ESOL GCSE programme, further highlight our dedication to providing high-quality, inclusive education for all students.”
The current results underscore a journey of outstanding growth and accomplishment, marked by higher grades, exceptional performance and consistently high pass rates across a broad range of subjects.
One student, Alex who secured the grades: A*, A*, A, A, stated: “My time at the college was brilliant thanks to the support of my A Level teachers, especially during the exam period!”
A second student, Ciara was awarded the grades: A*, A, A, C, added: “My teachers and classmates were very kind and supportive. I thoroughly enjoyed my time here.”
The college’s GCSE results also demonstrate positive learning experiences for students.
This year’s achievement highlights include 230 more students than 22/23 gaining a GCSE English qualification and 293 more students than 22/23 gaining a GCSE Maths qualification.

Overall, there was a 7 per cent point increase in English achievement rates from 22/23.The 16-18 English pass rate was an astonishing 90 per cent and the 16-18 Maths pass rate was 88 per cent.
