Engine Shed marks decade legacy
Ten years ago Engine Shed opened its doors with a mission to drive innovation in the South West, and quickly established itself as a model for business hubs across the globe.
The innovation hub, located next to Temple Meads station, is continuing in its mission with new membership offers for SMEs and freelancers and expanded space for people to rent fixed desks for coworking.
What sets apart Engine Shed as a workspace is its extended network. Being part of the University of Bristol, it has an extensive network of entrepreneurs, startups, business, academics, government and community organisations.
Bristol’s first Eagle Labs base moved into Engine Shed last year, and the University of Bristol’s Bristol Innovations team is also based there, creating opportunities for connections and collaboration.

It is perhaps best known for its Members’ Lounge, a vibrant, open workspace and a melting pot for the city and region. Users can pay as little as £10 for a half day to drop in and work there.
Those looking for their own base can rent fixed desks in the Arrivals Lounge coworking space. Coworkers get free use of its Members’ Lounge, discounted meeting room hire, and access to bike sheds and showers.

On a typical day when Engine Shed is in full swing, you’ll find it buzzing with residents, members and visitors attending events in its meeting rooms and event spaces.
