Kate’s Kitchen joins the Better Business Network
Kate’s Kitchen is excited to be an official member of the Bristol 24/7 Better Business network.
Kate Ploughman is a chef by trade and has been cooking since the age of 16. As a chef she has years experience under belt working both in Bristol and New Zealand.
Kate firmly believes that even when cooking for large numbers, it can be both wholesome and homemade. She put her belief into action her when she founded Kate’s Kitchen back in 2007 when she was 27.
From then on, the South Bristol-based catering firm has gone from strength to strength. Kate is now joined by a team of highly trained chefs and event managers with a strong background in catering and hospitality.

Kate said she wanted to own a catering company that produced delicious and creative food, that was environmentally conscious, using local and seasonal food and treating staff fairly and equally.
She said: “I used to do everything from cooking, washing up, driving and serving – 17 years on I am now joined by a team of talented, passionate, hardworking and professional people.”
Kate’s Kitchen has grown from their love of food and their belief that they can offer healthy, top-quality catering (on a par with the best restaurants). Kate said: “We are motivated to create dynamic, seasonal, interesting and well-balanced menus.”
Kate’s team is made up of 15 keen food enthusiasts working across the business, with the responsibility of ensuring the seamless planning and operation of corporate catering, private events and weddings run.
As an ethical and fair catering business Kate’s Kitchen pays the Real Living Wage, care for its staff and provide opportunities for them to grow and learn.
On the day to day operations of the company, Kate said: “We have spent many years developing and perfecting our range of services. With clients ranging from local and national businesses to individuals organising their own weddings or birthdays, we can cater for any type of event.”
Kate believes that details matter.
“Our food is nutritional, seasonal and delicious – We’re particularly passionate about delivering events that showcase in-season ingredients and bring alive our clients’ vision through delicious menus. We understand that it’s the small details and big flavours that make each experience unique and memorable.”

On joining the Bristol24/7 Better Business network, Kate said: “We decided to join Bristol24/7 in June this year, as wanted to support the amazing work that Bristol 247 does for the local community and supporting local journalism.
“They also give less marginalised communities a voice through their journalism, and they are doing so much positive social impact work and sustainability and environmental work in Bristol, which is one of our core values.
“Its also great to have the opportunity to make connections with other local businesses through their directory and networking events. Plus our staff have access to great perks too, which is great for staff welfare and being able to give something back to them.
