TLT joins Bristol 24/7’s Better Business network
UK law firm TLT has joined Bristol 24/7’s Better Business network – an initiative to help businesses thrive whilst creating a positive impact on the city and the people who live there.
TLT’s membership is part of its commitment to social value, wellbeing and sustainability, as both a major employer and a firm that’s been headquartered in Bristol since its inception in 2000.
The firm recently unveiled a four-year roadmap off the back of a decade of growth, key pillars of which include equality, diversity & inclusion (ED&I), mental health & wellbeing and sustainability.
These critical focus areas are backed up by dedicated teams and clear plans to ensure that TLT is helping its people to thrive, supporting social mobility and achieving its ambitious sustainability goals.
Examples of TLT’s work in the community include supporting the Social Mobility Business Partnership to help students from less privileged backgrounds develop the skills required to begin a successful career. The firm also has active LGBTQ+ and BAME networks and runs an extensive mental health and wellbeing programme, with trained mental health and wellbeing champions.
TLT is partnering with Carbon Intelligence to help achieve its ambitious target of becoming a net-zero business by 2025. It is also collaborating with like-minded organisations to reduce carbon emissions, including Forest Green Rovers, The Chancery Lane Project and Action Net-Zero.
John Wood, TLT’s managing partner, says: “We joined Better Business to be part of a network that’s supporting positive change in Bristol. We are proud to be in a position to share our expertise and experience with, and help make a difference to, the communities within which we live and work.”

Maria Connolly is head of clean energy and real estate and executive board member responsible for sustainability at UK law firm TLT.
Maria Connolly, head of clean energy and real estate and executive board member responsible for sustainability at TLT, adds: “Sustainability is both a personal and professional passion of mine. We’re one of the world’s leading advisers in the clean energy sector, as well as growing markets like green finance, and I’ve seen first-hand the difference that collaboration and bold thinking can have on the planet and local economies. I’m really excited to join forces with the Better Business members and seeing what we can achieve by bringing our people and experiences together.”
Maria is speaking at an upcoming event – B24/7 Presents: How Bristol can become the first net-zero city – on Thursday 16 September 2021. Find out more here.
