Upfest team up with Redcliffe & Temple BID to bring vibrancy to local organisations

By Bristol24/7  Monday Apr 22, 2024

Redcliffe & Temple Business Improvement District (BID) has teamed up with Upfest to infuse more vibrancy and artistic flair into the area. Two talented artists collaborated to celebrate the work of two levy paying organisations while transforming their workspaces.

One mural was unveiled at Temple Fire Station’s training tower by Avon Fire & Rescue Service (AF&RS). Created by artist Hasan Kamil, the mural pays homage to AF&RS’s essential services beyond firefighting. Featuring control operator Krissy Foster-Pullen, the artwork vividly depicts the diverse roles within the service, including dynamic rope rescues, water rescues, and responses to road traffic incidents.

Krissy Foster-Pullen, Station Manager at AF&RS, emphasised the mural’s authenticity, showcasing real scenarios and personnel from across the service. She expressed pride in how the artwork highlights the team’s emergency response capabilities.

Better Business
Better Business is an initiative launched by Bristol24/7 to help businesses thrive, whilst creating a positive impact on Bristol and the people who live here.

Tom Swithinbank, project manager at Redcliffe & Temple BID, commended Hasan Kamil for translating their vision of “creating quality spaces” into reality, adding vibrancy to the area while drawing attention to AF&RS’s dedicated efforts.

The initiative also extended to Spear House, home to the Soil Association, where artist Zoë Power previously adorned the building with a mural in 2020. This year, Zoë expanded her artwork to further show the Soil Association’s commitment to sustainable food, farming, and forestry.

Nicola Spencer, Soil Association group resources director, expressed delight in the mural’s extension, which vividly illustrates the organisation’s impact on sustainable practices and healthy living. The expanded mural, with vibrant depictions of nature and sustainability, aims to raise awareness about the Soil Association’s endeavours and bring joy to passersby.
