What’s happening with Better Bristol – September 2021
Bristol24/7 will be exploring Bristol’s journey to becoming a net-zero city through the next Bristol24/7 presents 2021 series.
In the free virtual event on September 16 sponsored by TLT, you’ll hear from expert panellists to explore how Bristol is making its way towards achieving net-zero status, the challenges at hand and what you can do.
Speaking at the event will be Jenny Foster from the Global Goals Centre, Maria Connolly from TLT Solicitors, Katherine Piper from Future Leap and Olivia Sweeney from the Black & Green Ambassadors. You will also hear from Bristol mayor Marvin Rees and other voices from Bristol in a short film played at the event.

The #Bristol17 campaign by the Global Goals Centre, in collaboration with Bristol24/7, is continuing with great success.
A series of 17 short videos, one for each of the goals, are being released every week, highlighting a Bristol hero – from a range of wards and spectrums of society – who is doing something that helps reach that goal.
You can read more about the Bristol heroes celebrated here.

The #Bristol17 campaign celebrates a different local hero every week.
Work experience opportunities are still available at Bristol24/7 for young people wanting experience in journalism.
Bristol24/7 offer a limited number of editorial work experience opportunities throughout the year, open to anyone looking to start a career in journalism or get experience in the world of work.
Our award-winning voluntary placements are unpaid and run for one week, from Monday to Friday, with working hours between 9am to 5.30pm.
“During my week with Bristol24/7, I was able to write articles, go out for interviews and also learn more about my community. I learned what it takes to be a journalist; the integrity that you need and also the confidence,” said Emily Olika, who carried out a placement with Bristol24/7 in August.
“Writing my first ever published article was daunting but also wonderful. I also interviewed a Japanese chef, and some of the cast and crew of Disney’s Beauty and the Beast at the Hippodrome.”
