Campaign launched to inspire more female-led businesses to become B Corps
Communications agency, Purplefish is celebrating its first year as a B Corp.
To mark B Corp month, the annual global celebration of the business accolade, the agency is launching a campaign to encourage more female-led businesses into the community.
In its first year since certification, Purplefish has taken action to improve its sustainable and environmental impact and expanded the diversity of its client base. Over a third of its client companies are led by Black and minority ethnic founders and managers.

Its clients include St Pauls Carnival which has been partnered with Purplefish since 2019. Along with electric vehicle car subscription company, Voltric and Ethical Equity, the investor marketplace promoting greater representation in the investment sector.
However, only 13 per cent of its client companies are run by women. The lack of female representation in business has also been highlighted by the B Corp movement.
There are currently 1,100 B Corp businesses in the UK, yet only 234 of these are led by women (21 per cent).
To kick off the campaign, which will run throughout 2023, Purplefish is hosting a webinar on March 29 featuring four female entrepreneurs who run B Corp businesses.
The panel for the free online session includes founder of Purplefish, Joanna Randall, Helena Hills from TrueStart Coffee, Nina Postans from video production company Skylark Media and Rowan Morrison from creative and advertising agency Rationale.
Following this first event, the Purplefish team will be creating a programme of events, networking groups and opportunities to share knowledge about the benefits of B Corp and how to certify.
Commenting, founder and managing director of Purplefish, Joanna Randall, said: “B Corp has been good for us as a business and we are very proud of our first year, the number of B Corp businesses in the UK is still relatively low and we are keen to share our experience and knowledge to support other businesses.
“What we have learnt as a team is that it’s vital to keep the momentum after certification. Although recertification is every three years there is a real imperative to report on progress against targets.
“I’m very much looking forward to kicking off our campaign to encourage more female leaders into the B Corp community – I have always benefitted from mentors and a strong network around me and know how important this can be for success in business.”
