Introducing the Good Employment Charter
The Good Employment Charter supports businesses across the West of England to become better employers by championing the principles of secure, fulfilling, and well-paid work. With 168 businesses signed up as Supporters, and in turn, 20,000 employees helped through the project, its impact resonates deeply across the region.
At its core, the Charter is a testament to the belief that investing in employees not only enhances morale, retention rates, and health but also fuels business growth and success, fostering a ripple effect that benefits society and the wider economy. This ethos underpins the Charter’s mission: to set the standard for working practices in the region and empower organisations of all sizes and sectors to elevate their commitment to their staff.
No matter where a business is on its journey to becoming a better employer, the Good Employment Charter is on hand to help. The Charter provides its Supporters and Members with a unique opportunity to network with like-minded businesses, attend insightful events and access a team of experts who are on hand to provide guidance on whatever topic the organisation needs more in-depth advice on.
By pledging to uphold the one or more of the seven key characteristics of the Charter – Supporters of the Charter position themselves as ’employers of choice’, distinguished by their dedication to fostering an enriching and supportive workplace culture. Each year, Supporters undertake a review, led by the expert Charter team, where they can reflect on their pledges and recognise how far they’ve come, whilst also deciding on future plans.
By uniting a vast array of businesses from different sectors and of different sizes around a shared commitment to good employment practices, the Charter not only transforms individual workplaces but also shapes the broader landscape of work in the West of England, paving the way for a future where every individual has the opportunity to thrive and reach their full potential.
Join organisations like Business West, Cogito Talent, Rising Arts Agency, Changing Social, Squarcle, AbleCare Homes and Something Familiar who are already benefitting from being Supporters and Members of the Charter.
