Airbus unveils new electric aircraft
Airbus has released the first images of a cutting edge electric aircraft under development by a graduate team at its Filton base. Using the same skills and tools normally used to create passenger planes, the project aims to have the pioneering, zero-carbon technology ready by 2016, a development cycle of one year compared to the seven year standard.
Sustainability is to be considered at all points in the aircraft lifecycle, from design, material sourcing and manufacture to what will happen to the product after decommissioning.
It has been launched to coincide with Bristol Green Capital 2015 in the hope that it will inspire ideas and debate over the future of aviation in the city and beyond.
