Braille technology firm named as ‘one to watch’
A non-profit organisation in Bristol which has made a “Kindle for blind people” has been named as “one to watch” by the Creative Industries Council.
Bristol Braille Technology has developed and manufactured the Canute 360, a device to enable the blind community to read books, music, graphs and more with ease.
Ed Rogers, founder of Bristol Braille, says they are “very pleased” to have been included in the CreaTech 100 Ones to Watch list.
He said: “We’re proud to be the only people in the world making affordable multiline Braille displays. We’re also very proud to be doing it all out of a workshop in Bedminster.
“The CreaTech 100 is good timing for us as we’re just about to expand our assembly line and starting some exciting new R&D projects. Watch this space.”
Bristol Braille was founded in 2011 with the goal to create a Braille machine that can help reverse the decline in literacy amongst blind people.
