Bristol animation studio tipped for double gongs for Sky Kids series
A Productions, a leading Bristol-based animation studio, has been nominated for two industry accolades for its creative collaborations to a pre-school television show.
A Productions has played a pivotal role in the success of The Makery, a popular show available on Sky Kids and the Sky Kids app for on-demand viewing.
The show, commissioned by Sky Kids and produced by Terrific Television, combines live-action with animated segments, with A Productions providing animation and post-production effects.
The Makery‘s third series has been nominated for Best Pre-School Programme at the 2025 Broadcast Awards and Best Pre-School Live-Action Series at the 2025 Kidscreen Awards.
Hosted by Nim Odedra and narrated by Stephen Mangan, the fast-paced series features fun crafting, creative baking, and playful takeovers, encouraging children to engage with learning through play.
Aimed at young audiences, the show is fast-paced and hands-on, inviting children to participate in crafting, baking, and building quirky projects.
Each episode features lively segments where the host and animated characters guide kids through imaginative, DIY-inspired challenges that spark creativity and problem-solving skills.
Katherine McQueen, joint managing director at A Productions, expressed pride in the recognition. She said: “It’s wonderful to see The Makery Series 3 being recognised both nationally and internationally. Congratulations to everyone involved in this fantastic show, which encourages children to get creative, have fun, and learn through play.”
The Broadcast Awards, which recognise the best in British television, will be held on February 5 in London, while the Kidscreen Awards will take place during the Kidscreen Summit in San Diego from February 9-12.
A Productions has been involved in all three series of The Makery and continues to create children’s content for global audiences.

In addition to its work on The Makery, the Colston Street-based studio has collaborated on acclaimed TV shows such as JoJo and Gran Gran (produced by BBC Studios Kids & Family Productions), Love Monster for CBeebies, and Sesame Street animated specials.
In an awards event run by Broadcast magazine in collaboration with the Workforce Research Group last year, A Production was hailed among the “best places to work in television”.
