Bristol business accelerator UK’s best
Entrepreneurs based at a Bristol accelerator hub have created more than 450 new jobs – the highest figure in the UK-wide programme.
The Entrepreneurial Spark, powered by NatWest, hub opened in Trinity Quay in August 2015, and has so far supported 164 businesses.
Between them these entrepreneurs have created 457 new jobs, the highest across Entrepreneurial Spark’s 12 locations. They have also raised £9.8 million in investment and between them have a turnover of more than £22m.
Matt West, NatWest’s entrepreneur development manager who oversees the Bristol hub, said: “Not only is the Entrepreneurial Spark programme making a real difference to the start-ups and growing businesses who take part, but these figures show how it is significantly benefiting the Bristol economy too. The city has a vibrant and supportive business network and Entrepreneurial Spark has fast become an integral part of that and will continue to be so.”
Marc Woodland, owner of Winbox, a full-service email marketing agency, has been based at the Bristol hub since it opened. He said: “Taking part in the Entrepreneurial Spark programme has made me more ambitious, forward thinking, and opened my eyes to having a team around me. In many aspects, it’s opened up the entrepreneur within me.”
Run in partnership with KPMG Enterprise, Dell Technologies and Harper Macleod, the hub provides free support, mentoring, networking and office accommodation for entrepreneurs.
