Bristol ranked 13th for start-up readiness
Bristol has been ranked 13th for startup readiness and 16th for scale-up readiness in the latest European Digital City Index.
The Index, produced as part of the European Digital Forum, describes how well different cities across Europe support digital entrepreneurs. It aims to support digital entrepreneurship across the continent, providing information about the strengths and weaknesses of the local ecosystems, and to provide policy makers with information about where they need to devote more resources.
It assessed Europe’s cities for readiness against criteria such as availability of crowdfunding, digital market size, online collaboration, access to accelerators, labour cost, connectivity and business training.
Bristol fared well thanks to the rapid growth of the technology sector in the last 10 years due to the work of the support network which has developed. We are the UK’s fastest growing tech region with 65 per cent growth in new digital companies between 2010-2013 and the highest percentage of entrepreneurs per capita in the UK.
Enterprise partnership SetSquared, TechSpark, Engine Shed, and internet incubator Webstart Bristol were noted for their contribution.
