Bristol University appoints new Business School dean

By Milan Perera  Thursday Aug 22, 2024

“Now is a good time to unfollow me if you don’t want to hear about exciting job opportunities, my brilliant colleagues or our amazing students,” said professor Brian Squire, the new dean of the University of Bristol’s Business School in a post announcing his new appointment on LinkedIn.

Professor Squire was appointed dean in early August, having previously served as the deputy dean of the Business School (Temple Quarter Innovation and Enterprise).

His research interests include areas of operations and supply chains, exploring properties that create resilience, innovation and sustainability.

Professor Squire previously taught at the University of Bath School of Management, where he also served as acting dean, deputy dean and head of division. Prior to that he served as a senior lecturer at the University of Manchester.

He is also a co-investigator in the £12m EPSRC Cellular Agriculture Manufacturing Hub.

The University of Bristol Business School said: “We are delighted by this very strong appointment which will enable the Business School to continue to deliver on our vision and strategy.”

Professor Squire will take up the role from current dean, professor Veronica Hope Hailey, on October 1.

Professor Hailey will continue to hold the title of inaugural dean and will be special advisor to the vice chancellor until December 2024.

She will also support the school with a series of events due to take place in the UK and China in November.

Bristol University’s flagship £500m Temple Quarter Enterprise Campus is due to open in September 2026.
