‘Bristol’s a fantastic place to start a business’
Bristol’s proximity to London, entrepreneurial spirit and internet connection speed have helped it top the list as the best major UK city for startups.
This is according to research by marketing agency Yours.Sincerely, which also says the low cost of office space is a key factor – at least compared to London, which is on average 56 per cent more expensive.
The Victoria St-based company ranked ten major British cities, using criteria that included the number of startups in each location, the cost of office space, internet speed and travel time to the capital.
With more than 27 startups for every 1000 people, Bristol is a hugely entrepreneurial city. Only Edinburgh, Leicester and London had a greater concentration of new businesses, and fell on other key factors.
Commenting on the research, Dominic Baliszewski, founder and director of Yours.Sincerely, said: “This research confirms what we’ve known all along, that Bristol is an absolutely fantastic place to start a business.
“Bristol already has a brilliant creative vibe, a raft of amazing businesses and a fantastic sense of community – now it has yet another thing to be proud of.”
The study ranks London as the second best place for startups, with Leicester third.
