Dragon-defying entrepreneur launches sleep regulating clock for children
A Bristol-based entrepreneur, who went on to create a multi-million dollar brand after the infamous rejection on Dragons’ Den, has launched yet another venture.
Rob Law, who founded Trunki, the popular ride-on travelling suitcase brand, has turned his attention to regulating sleeping patterns of children with his latest venture, Zeepy Sleep Training Clock.
The product designed to help improve sleep patterns for young children has already received the nod of a major regional investor, SWIG Finance who provided a £25,000 investment boost to take the product to the next level.
A new sleep training device designed for children aged two to six aims to help families establish better bedtime routines. The Zeepy Sleep Training Clock uses melatonin-friendly lighting to promote restful sleep for young children.
In addition to the clock, Rob has developed a library of expert-backed resources—including meditative podcasts—rooted in child psychology, to further support parents in improving their children’s sleep.
The co-founders of Zeepy Sleep, Rob and Dave, were inspired in their quest for a better night’s sleep for their own children.
“At Zeepy, our story is deeply personal. As parents, we’ve navigated the choppy waters of bedtime routines and early-morning wake-ups with our energetic little ones,” said Rob.

Despite the rejection at Dragons’ Den, Trunki continued to grow and amounted to £12m in value when it was sold in 2023, proving his doubters wrong
On the startup investment boost, he said: “Securing the Start Up Loan was a pivotal moment for my new business Zeepy. As sales surged faster than we anticipated, we faced a critical cash flow gap that could have hindered our growth.
“SWIG Finance provided the ideal solution. The application process was swift and straightforward—I simply integrated my business plan into their template, and within weeks, the funds were in my account. This loan has allowed us to meet customer demand and continue our upward trajectory”.
Rob Law is no stranger to developing child-friendly products as his Trunki suitcases have become a common sight in airports and railway stations where younger passengers are able to carry their belongings with less hassle.
However, his business journey has not been a pleasure cruise as he received a crushing rejection on national television some years ago.
Rob appeared in the BBC pitching show, Dragons’ Den back in 2006 for an investment of £100,000 for Trunki. Despite the soundness of the proposal, the Dragons, especially Theo Phapitis eviscerated Law’s pitch citing multiple shortcomings.
But Trunki continued to grow and amounted to £12m in value when it was sold in 2023, proving his doubters wrong.
SWIG, who backed Law’s Zeepy Sleep Training Clock, expressed its confidence in the project.

Jo MacEachen, start up loans senior manager at SWIG, said: “Rob has an impressive background ranging from industrial design and product development to marketing and importing and exporting.
“In a world where great emphasis is placed on wellbeing, this multi-faceted product offering will help Rob stand out in the sleep aid marketplace”.
