By Charlie Watts  Tuesday Apr 25, 2023

A Bristol-based firm that “transforms science through innovation” has won a King’s Award for Enterprise in the Innovation category.

LearnSci, based in St Augustine’s Yard, finds innovative solutions to overcome challenges universities face providing laboratory-based teaching.

In a joint statement, LearnSci’s founding directors – Bill Heslop, John Eastman and Tony Baldwin – said they are “honoured” to have their work acknowledged with the award.

Better Business is an initiative launched by Bristol24/7 to help businesses thrive, whilst creating a positive impact on Bristol and the people who live here.

“This award belongs to the whole team at LearnSci and we are immensely proud to make a difference to the lives of so many science students and educators around the world,” they said.

“It’s especially pleasing to be recognised for innovation in education as this underpins everything we do in the company to create better and more inclusive opportunities for teaching and learning.

“We want to thank all of our customers and partners for putting their trust in us and we look forward to continuing our amazing journey together.”

Founded in 2007, LearnSci provides educational tools such as laboratory simulations and smart worksheets to enhance the development of students’ scientific skills.

The King’s Awards for Enterprise, previously known as the The Queen’s Awards for Enterprise, is in its 57th year, with more than 7,000 companies having been awarded since its inception in 1965.
