Electrical contractor marks fifth anniversary with major industry recognition

By Milan Perera  Monday Oct 28, 2024

The fifth birthday of a Bristol-based electrical contractor could not have turned sweeter as it bagged a major nationwide industry recognition recently.

Source Electrical, which boasts an extensive business footprint in Bristol and the surrounding area, has won the “Electrical Contractor of the Year” award for companies up to £5m in turnover category at the Electrical Contractors’ Association (ECA) Awards.

The event, held at the Hilton London Bankside hotel, brought together leading lights of the industry who were shortlisted for awards under several categories.

Source Electrical received the award from ECA officials and BBC Sport presenter Mike Bushell after seeing off some stiff competition.

Ian Rogers, managing director of Source Electrical, said: “This recognition among our peers reflects the hard work, dedication, and innovation of our entire team.

“We are incredibly proud of what we’ve achieved together and grateful for the support of our clients and partners.”

Source Electrical was founded in 2019 by Rogers and co-director Paul Lanning, who between them have some 40 years of experience in the trade.

Employing 20 staff from its premises near Weston-super-Mare, the company offers design, specification, and installation services across a variety of sectors.

The firm specialises in renewable power and heating systems, including EV charging solutions for business and residential customers.

When sending their entry for the coveted award, Source Electrical highlighted its work saving clients money and carbon emissions through LED lighting upgrades, installing photovoltaic panels for a variety of organisations, and helping businesses convert fleets to electric vehicles.

Among the several undertakings on their books, the firm has expressed great pride in their assignment at Yate Supplies, a local hospitality company.

Over the past year, Source Electrical has supported Yate Supplies in their sustainability journey. After a 90 per cent turnover drop during the pandemic, Yate Supplies installed a solar energy system to embrace a greener future.

Source Electrical installed 170 solar panels, each generating 425 Watts, covering 50 per cent of Yate Supplies’ annual energy needs. This system produces nearly 60,000 kWh annually, with the investment expected to pay off in under four years.

Dave Battrick, regional manager for the West and South West at ECA, congratulated Source Electrical on the award.

He said: “On behalf of the ECA, I’d like to congratulate everyone at the company for their hard work and commitment to raising standards in the industry.

“They’re a great company with an excellent set of values and work ethics – deserved winners and we look forward to seeing them progress.”
