Electronic music agency launches
A new agency has launched to promote the use of avant-garde electronica for use in the TV, film and gaming industries, hoping to spawn the next generation of Super Mario or Tetris ear worms.
Based at the Paintworks, Syncsmith is backed by Houndstooth, Opal Tapes and Versatile Records and recognises the increasing relevance and popularity of the genre among the creative industries. It pushes the work and back catalogues of the artists it represents with an ‘industry only’ approach that highlights how companies can use their compositions to compliment high-quality on-screen projects.
“As an artist working on my own productions and sound design for animation and games, partnering with Syncsmith looks like the start of a new musical adventure,” says musician Joe Farr. “I’m really looking forward to it.”
Syncsmith co-founder Gavin Mee said: “We feel honoured to be championing such genre-defying talent and fully believe in their material and cross-over potential with the creative industries. We have hand-selected labels and artists and I think its this hand-forged, academic approach that will help us consistently fuel our clients with emotive content to enhance their projects”.
