Entertainment production industry stalwarts showcase new tech in Bristol
Stage Electrics, the Bristol-based specialist stage and theatre electrics company brought together the leading brands of the industry for a one-day event in the city.
The ‘Showcase’ event was held at the Heinken Suite of Ashton Gate Stadium with hundreds of people representing the production technology industry, clients and Stage Electrics staff.
The Stage Electrics Showcase offered an exclusive chance for attendees to engage with and discover the latest products from over 25 highly reputable manufacturers in the field of production technology.
Companies that specialise in stage lighting and professional audio to special effects and pyrotechnics were featured at the sold-out event.
Founded in 1979, Stage Electrics boasts of being a “through and through” Bristol business. The company provides a range of technical solutions to the theatre, entertainment, communication and education industries. The company has some of the biggest name in entertainment and theatre on their books such as the Royal Opera House.
The exhibitors included some of the biggest names of the production technology industry and featured household brands such as Yamaha, Panasonic and Sennheiser.

Not all companies that featured in the event were household names but nevertheless have built up a reputation as important players in the sector. For example, Doughty Engineering specialises in rigging, suspension and lifting equipment for the film, TV and theatre productions.
They have been a reputable brand in stage lighting clamps, to curtain track and studio rail, tank traps, pantographs, boom arms, brackets, and transporter trolleys.

The fair also hosted the Dutch firm, Prolyte who demonstrated their designs for structural elements for the entertainment, architectural associated markets, including trussing, staging, roof systems and more.
Czech Republic-based firm Robe, which specialises in stage lighting, were also in attendance. Chris Purnell who was representing the firm said: “We manufacture a range of theatrical, live events and rock and roll products. One of our key goals at the moment is trying to make our industry sustainable.”
The highlight of the evening was the pyrotechnic display staged by the leading player of the industry La Maitre, who has been creating spectacular effects for the likes of The Rolling Stones and Pink Floyd.
Speaking on the event, Matt Rakowski, marketing manager for Stage Electrics said: “It’s been a great success to bring together major players of the industry and customers. It’s a great opportunity for manufacturers to meet their target customers and listen to their suggestions for better performing products.”
