Entrepreneurs launch new app linking Bristol creatives to studio space
A former forensic DNA analyst turned artist and a music producer are the brains behind a new app connecting Bristol creatives with studio space.
Sean Williams and Rachael Porosa say the idea for RentSpace was born out of their own difficulties in finding workspace available in the city.
They created the free iPhone app as a dedicated space on which people can easily find listings of studios or creative spaces available to rent.
“Our hope is that RentSpace becomes the first stop for anyone looking to rent or advertise creative spaces,” says Sean.
“We want to help connect artists, musicians, photographers and all other types of creatives with people renting out their spaces in a way that is efficient and easy for both parties. It’s something we’re both passionate about being in creative roles ourselves.
“We wanted to provide a tool that was genuinely helpful and most importantly to us, free to use. The app enables users to search for a space whenever is convenient, not just when you’re at a computer. The in-app messaging also saves time in checking responses, instead of having to monitor emails, texts and direct messages over various platforms.
“We hope that it will help other creatives find a space that is perfect for them and help advertisers to get their spaces seen and rented out with ease.”
Sean’s background is mostly in music production and DJ-ing, which he did while working as a telecoms engineer. He has been studying software development and is now looking to work fulltime as an iOS developer.
Rachael spent a few years working as a forensic DNA analyst, before turning her love of painting into a fulltime career as a portrait artist.
They say the app contains no hidden costs, subscriptions or in-app purchases because they wanted to make it easier for artists, musicians and creatives to find workspaces in Bristol.
They are seeking to get word out around Bristol that the app is now available for studio owners to advertise their spaces for free.
