Expansion plans for Bristol communication agency
A specialist communications consultancy for “place-makers, purposeful businesses and public bodies” has expanded its presence in the South West with a key appointment in Exeter.
Based in Narrow Quay, Distinctive Communications has appointed Devon-based Arianne Smart as account manager to lead on public relations and communications support to clients in Devon.
It comes as the consultancy progress through its second successful year of operation and as it takes on several new clients and projects across the South West.
On her new appointment, Smart said: “It is a really exciting time to be joining the team. Distinctive has really made its mark in the South West, supporting clients in property and place-making and achieving some stand-out results.”
She added: “I am looking forward to supporting the talented team on delivering communications work for the existing client base, as well as leading on new projects and looking to increase our presence in and around Exeter.”

Distinctive Communications currently supports clients including Bath and North East Somerset Council, Mactaggart and Mickel Group and developer Reef Group, which is partnering with Gloucester City Council to bring forward the £107m Gloucester regeneration project, The Forum.
PR practitioner Ben Lowndes founded the firm in June 2022, after working at Social’s South West agency from its inception in 2017 to one of the region’s best known specialist consultancies in 2022.
On expanding the business footprint in Exeter area, Lowndes said: “I am proud of everything we’ve achieved since launching Distinctive in 2022 and expanding our footprint in the South West is an exciting new opportunity for us.”
He added: “Arianne’s appointment is a key part of this and I am sure that her experience will further build on our offering to deliver impactful PR and communications work.”
