Festival of Economics in full swing
A festival, exploring topics such as the cost-of-living crisis, the pound, and cryptocurrency, has kicked off.
As part of the 11th Festival of Economics, economists, policy makers, academics and members of the public are being brought together for topical discussions across the city.
The talks and a live podcast recording are being held in Bristol from November 14-17 at Watershed, Arnolfini, Bristol Cathedral Choir School, and in the Great Eastern Hall at Brunel’s SS Great Britain.
This year’s festival, presented in partnership with Economics Observatory and Bristol Ideas, is once again being co-programmed by Diane Coyle, professor of public policy at the University of Cambridge and author of Cogs and Monsters. Alongside Richard Davies, who is professor of public understanding of economics at Bristol University and author of Extreme Economies.

Diane Coyle and Richard Davies said: “The Festival of Economics is an opportunity to engage, question and discuss the big economic questions of our time.
“Our events are for everyone, with a strict no jargon and no PowerPoint rule for our experts from around the world.
“They can help us all better understand the latest academic research, government policies and big ideas needed to improve our lives, and we can help them understand what questions people have about the economy.”
