Lego figures hidden across Bristol

By Bristol24/7  Monday Sep 17, 2018

Miniature mechanics, chefs, doctors, builders and scientists are being hidden around Bristol from Tuesday.

It’s part of a new campaign.from Skills West to raise awareness of the skills gap affecting the city, and aims to encourage employers to think about how they can support the future workforce.

The Lego people will be placed in areas of Bristol with high footfall such as Millennium Square, Cribbs Causeway and the Paintworks.

Better Business
Better Business is an initiative launched by Bristol24/7 to help businesses thrive, whilst creating a positive impact on Bristol and the people who live here.

Anyone who finds a figure will be encouraged to take a selfie with their ‘new recruit’ at their place of work and tweet @bw_businesswest (Skills West is a project delivered by Business West) with the hashtag #pledgeyoursupport.

Every selfie will be entered into a prize draw to win an experience day to learn a new skill including flying, cookery or photography.

Skills West head Nicky Williams said: “It’s a bit of fun to highlight a serious issue.

“We’re currently experiencing the lowest unemployment rate since 1975 which, whilst great in one way, intensifies the problems local businesses are having when it comes to finding skilled people to join their team.

“The campaign aims to emphasise this point and let businesses know how they work with us to help ensure workers have the relevant skills they need in the future.”
