Local startup launch lost property app
A Bristol-based tech startup is launching the UK’s first community-focused lost property app.
Found is a new mobile app and web platform that allows users to register items of value, in order to then be reunited quickly with them if they get lost.

The app uses the latest AI technology to match lost and found items and link the finders and losers of property so they can be returned safely and hosts a growing database of transport operators, sports venues and food and drink places, as well as police forces.
Lance Plunkett, founder and CEO of Found, said he and his team had felt that not enough was being done to address the issue of lost property, and set out to change this with the app.
“Over 50 million items are lost a year in the UK, with a value of over £1bn,” says Lance. “Add this to the fact that police forces are no longer taking lost property at their stations, and you can see that there is a real need for a new, innovative solution to this problem.”

Bristol will be the first city in the UK to have access to the app, before it is introduced to the rest of the country in 2020. It was supported in its set up by Invest Bristol & Bath and Stephen Lansdown, founder of Bristol Sport.
“This is a great example of the hugely innovative and beneficial technology that the West of England is famous for creating,” Patricia Greer, chief executive of the West of England Combined Authority, said.
“We’re proud to support investment into our region by providing business intelligence, through our Invest Bristol & Bath team. The West of England Combined Authority will continue to work closely with Found to support its growth and ambitions in the region.”
Found will be hosting a city-wide treasure hunt in Bristol on Saturday, November 23, from 9am onwards. Those wishing to participate will need to download the app and register two items in order to receive the clues. For more information, visit www.found.cloud/2019/11/found-bristol-treasure-hunt
