Nursery quadruples its size to meet growing waiting list
In response to the growing demand for childcare services, Busy Buddies Nursery has completed a big expansion operation, nearly quadrupling its business footprint.
The permission to expand the premises of the was requested over a year ago, in order meet the growing waiting list.
Located within the grounds of Puxton Park Estate, the nursery encompasses two state-of-the-art buildings, countryside gardens and an expansive forest school.
The extensive expansion has transformed the nursery’s business footprint from 1,668 sq. ft to an 5,920 sq. ft.

According to owners Justine and Chris Bristow, this significant expansion will enable them to not only accommodate a greater number of children, but also generate employment opportunities, with 20 jobs being created within the sector.
On the expansion, Alistair Mead, managing director at Puxton Park, said: “We couldn’t be more thrilled about this milestone for Busy Buddies Nursery at Puxton Park. Our commitment has always been to create spaces that not only educate but nurture the spirits of our youngest community members. This expansion represents more than just a physical growth—it’s a testament to our dedication to providing a place where children can learn, explore, and grow surrounded by the beauty of nature.
Mead added: “Chris and Justine’s vision perfectly aligns with our ethos of fostering curiosity and appreciation for the outdoors and we’re truly honoured to be partnering with such passionate individuals. Together, we’re shaping a haven that cherishes childhood and supports the development of future generations.”
Renewing their commitment to sustainability, the new building has an integrated green heating system powered by an air source heat pump and was built using environmentally-conscious materials, such as cleaned sheep’s wool for insulation.
