Site of former Fry’s chocolate warehouses to become shipping container offices

By Robin Connolly  Monday Aug 2, 2021

Offices within converted shipping containers are set to be built on the site of what were once warehouses owned by the famous Fry’s chocolate company.

CGI images have been released to illustrate the planned layout for CARGO Work at Wapping Wharf.

The space will feature a glazed courtyard canopy, balconies and terraces on all floors and views across south Bristol.

Stuart Hatton, managing director at Umberslade, the developer of Wapping Wharf, said that he is “thrilled” that works are now progressing.

He said: “CARGO Work is a completely unique concept that will create a stand-out working environment like no other, right in the heart of a thriving neighbourhood on Bristol’s famous Floating Harbour.

“With its balconies and terraces offering impressive views and a modern, versatile working environment, CARGO Work has plenty to offer employers looking to prioritise well-being and flexibility by providing an attractive, inspiring, one-of-a-kind workspace.”

Andrew Hardwick, partner, commercial, at Carter Jonas, one of the two agents marketing Wapping Wharf said: “CARGO Work has already generated a huge amount of interest. Wapping Wharf has been an enormous placemaking success, so it is no surprise that people want to work as well as spend their leisure time in this wonderful waterfront neighbourhood.

“CARGO Work combines a unique design with a high quality, contemporary working environment, offering something very special for occupiers.”

Set on the corner of Wapping Road and Cumberland Road, preparatory works for the offices are already underway and a steel frame for the site is due to be created in September.
