A recycling centre near Bristol has bagged major recognition at a recent awards ceremony celebrating industry level achievement and professionalism.

The RICS Regional Awards celebrated regional achievements across five categories: residential development, community benefit, heritage, public sector and refurbishment-revitalisation.

It was under the public sector category that Keynsham Recycling Hub was declared the winner.

Better Business is an initiative launched by Bristol24/7 to help businesses thrive, whilst creating a positive impact on Bristol and the people who live here.

The £35m recycling hub was set up for Bath & North East Council, encompassing both recycling facilities for household waste collected by the council, as well as a publicly accessible household waste drop-off, a re-use shop, offices, and an MOT and vehicle maintenance workshop.

The waste and recycling facility located is at Pixash Lane in Keynsham and serves as a central depot for more than 100 recycling and refuse collection vehicles, and more than 200 operations and support staff are based in the modern offices and welfare facilities on-site.

The RICS Awards bestow both local and global recognition, recognising industry-leading achievements and demonstrating the upholding of the highest standards of professionalism and ethics by individuals and teams across the built and natural environments.

James Wakeham, chair of the South West RICS Awards judging panel, said: “These winning projects are a true testament to the hard work and dedication of industry professionals in the South West.

“The talent and collaborative approaches undertaken by the teams behind these projects have resulted in exemplary and innovative schemes that really do represent the very best built projects across the South West.”

Other projects which won regional recognition include Cidermill Theatre Chipping Campden School, Dartmoor National Park, Bayspace St Ive’s and Keynvor residential development in Mawgan Porth.
