Sustainable office near Temple Meads set to be complete this year
Construction is well underway on an all-electric office building which has “sustainability at its core”.
EQ Development, just a stone’s throw from Bristol Temple Meads, is the first building in the South West to announce a commitment to targeting net zero carbon in operation.
Low carbon heat-pump technology will be used to heat the 200,000 sq. ft building, which will be able to accommodate 2,000 people.
Marvin Rees recently signed the steel work of EQ, located on Victoria Street, to mark the progress of the construction, which is set to be complete later in 2023.

The building will offer a modern spin on a typical workspace with a rooftop bar, a restaurant, a business lounge with a communal terrace, a ground floor cafe and kitchen, a 50-seat auditorium, and a fitness suite and break out space.
EQ will accommodate for cyclists in the city with a dedicated bicycle entrance and ramp from Temple Street to the basement which will have 260 cycle spaces
E-bike charging will also be available for workers.
BAM Construction is delivering the glass building on behalf of the CEG Group.
Paul Richardson, investment manager at CEG, said: “We have had a fantastic start to the year, business confidence in Bristol remains strong, with continuing occupier requirements for more than 100,000 sq. ft of office space.
“Our innovative approach to flexible leases, and delivery of tenant fit outs to reduce initial capital outlay, add to the appeal.
“We are also seeing occupants seek better quality space to attract and retain the best people.
“This, and the desire for workspace to reflect the businesses’ sustainability credentials, means that EQ’s fantastic environmental specification is incredibly well-placed in the market.”

During its two-year construction EQ has created 500 construction jobs annually.
Once complete, the building will deliver £466m gross value added per annum from direct and indirect operational jobs.
40 per cent of the building is pre-let and 10 per cent of the space is under offer.
