Tech start-ups announced for Bristol Tech-Xpo 2022
Sixteen start-ups from SETsquared Bristol will be exhibiting and demoing their innovative products at the flagship Tech-Xpo showcase this year.
Tech-Xpo is SETsquared Bristol’s flagship ‘pitch, demo and connect showcase’, providing a platform for start-ups to showcase their innovative technologies and raise investment.
Start-ups will be shortlisted to compete for the Best Elevator Pitch award, and this year’s shortlist could be the most exciting yet.
Those shortlisted include Grand Bequest, a property technology company that uses data analytics, conservation and sustainability to promote the global redevelopment of vacant buildings, and Hope Tech, a company that creates non-intrusive support tool that helps visually impaired people feel safe, confident and independent to participate fully in society.

Voltric, a company that provides users with an all-inclusive subscription for electric cars, and an awardee of SETsquared Bristol’s Breakthrough Bursary 2022 will be among nine others also pitching for this year’s prize.
The annual showcase is being held at St George’s Bristol, with an invited audience of over 200 investors, business leaders and potential partners. The event will also be live-streamed for a wider audience.
SETsquared Bristol is the University of Bristol’s acclaimed tech incubator that supports technology-based businesses to grow in their commercial viability.
Jenny Bailey of Ferryx, a University of Bristol biotech spin out won last year’s showcase.
Speaking about her win, Jenny said: “Tech-Xpo gave us a great opportunity to share our plans to improve the lives of millions of people suffering from gut inflammation and to network with people who may be able to join us on our journey.
“We have since closed our first investment round and been able to progress product development, getting our product closer to the hands of those who need it.”
Other previous winners include KETS Quantum Security, world leaders in quantum cryptography hardware solutions, and LettUs Grow, a pioneering aeroponic technology provider for indoor and vertical farms.
SETsquared Bristol’s lawyer in residence, VWV, are the headline sponsor for the 12th successional year. Other sponsors include Siemens, OnePLM, FD Works and Rocketmakers.
