The Fleece mentioned in House of Commons

By Martin Booth  Friday Oct 17, 2014

The Fleece has been mentioned in the House of Commons as an example of how noise coming from existing music venues has the possibility to affect new residential developments nearby.

In questions to Culture Minister Ed Vaizey, Bristol East MP Kerry McCarthy quoted Fleece owner Chris Sharp, who is one of many owners across the UK who do not believe that existing legislation protects venues from developers who are building around the venue then submitting noise complaints.

McCarthy said: “The owner of The Fleece in Bristol says that ‘the reality of the current situation could not be further from the picture painted in the planning practice guidance’, and the venue’s representatives are back before the planning committee next Wednesday.”
