Your Bristol favourites: Al fresco
This month we asked you to pick your favourite outdoor eating and drinking spots in town.
Avon Gorge Hotel
“My favourite place is Avon George Hotel as you can see the beautiful views of the Suspension Bridge.”

Beese’s
“Beese’s Bar and Tea Gardens is an al-fresco Bristol institution. For me, when the days get longer, and the spring sunshine starts to warm my cold bones, there’s nothing like a trip to Beese’s to mark the approach of summer. A tranquil spot for the first cider of the year, you can sit looking at the river and get excited about all the lovely summer events Bristol has ahead.”
Hannah Gibson
Brigstow Bar & Kitchen
“With a view to rival any in Bristol and with an exciting a vibrant menu created by Andy Clatworthy, Brigstow has to be one of the best al-fresco eating spots in Bristol. A visit on any sunny day with give you a very believable holiday feeling.”
Tom Burns
Brunel’s Buttery
“The Buttery – chip cones, egg n bacon sarnies and a brew in a proper mug on the waterfront. May it never fall to the developers.”
Sarah Morgan
Hope & Anchor
“The secret garden at the Hope & Anchor on Jacob’s Wells Road is a little treasure. The terrace at the Mud Dock is always a winner too.”

The Lido
“I like that I can go for coffee, enjoy the sun and then maybe have an afternoon swim just before dinner. The food is great (especially the fish), while although it is close to the centre, it is quiet.”
Tonia Tzemanaki
Mrs Brown’s
“Huge community involvement from Mrs Brown’s Cafe – from supporting the parkies and park activities, to providing water and occasional pooh bags to dog owners and on a good few occasions keeping an eye out for the kids from the local school / play area opposite – this is on top of the yummy cakes, ice creams, teas and occasional cheese and ham toastie. I miss not going to Mrs Browns so much since my son left the primary school.”
Sarah Morgan

Spoke & Stringer
“Boats, bicycles, brunch and booze! Nothing is more Bristolian and is a beautiful way to spend a sunny afternoon!”
Marie Hart
Under The Stars
“Good food, great drinks and getting to enjoy it all while watching the world go by from the upper deck as the sun sets over the harbourside. There’s simply no better way to unwind on a sunny weekend.”
Stuart Millar
The Victoria Park
“The Vicky Park is a stylish local pub with a large terraced garden that is a total sun trap – all day rays. Plenty of space for kids to play and dogs are welcome. Well stocked bar, great wine list, friendly staff, superb food, nice toilets. I almost regret sharing this!”
