Raise a glass to Bristol Cider Shop

By Sofi Carter  Wednesday Feb 8, 2017

Bristol Cider Shop does what it says on the tin. Stocking hundreds of varieties of cider and perry, this gem in Cargo on Wapping Wharf is your one-stop-shop for all things apples and pears.

With the next few months set to be cold and grey, owner Pete Snowman has decided to conquer this by hosting a set of events to ward off the winter blues.

Fortnightly introduction to cider classes will be held throughout February (10 and 24), March (10 and 24) and April (7) to reacquaint yourselves with all West Country ciders, just in case you’d forgotten how delicious they are.

Fancy celebrating St David’s Day? Bristol Cider Shop have you covered with a Welsh cider tasting on March 3 that will get your taste buds tingling.

Perhaps by the end of April you’ll be getting into the festival stride: hit up the Bristol Harbour-Cider Festival, celebrating Bristolian apples and ciders on the weekend beginning April 29.

Not only that, but also let your mind wander on to Cider combined with some of our favourite things: cheese and chocolate.

Rosie Morgan from The Bristol Cheesemonger partakes in the quest to find the perfect match in cheese and apples on March 31, providing the perfect fromagey accompaniment to a selection of West Country ciders.

And expect the unexpected on April 14 with chocolate and cider tasting, a delicious combination which you may never have thought about.

Perhaps most excitingly, Cider Dating is being held on February 17. Like speed dating, you get five minutes with a new partner but with the added bonus of trying a new cider with each new potential beau. So if the date’s awful you can drown your sorrows in an artisan tipple.

Each of these events starts at 7.30pm, costs £20 per person and includes 10 award-winning ciders, alongside fresh bread and some cracking cheeses. If that doesn’t see you through until spring we honestly don’t know what will.
