Bristol named as best European city break for 2017
Another week, another accolade for Bristol.
This time, it has been named the best European city for a mini-break in 2017 by Momondo.
Described as “England’s new creative hub” by the travel comparison site, Bristol beat trendy Aarhus in Denmark, historic Utrecht in the Netherlands and even artsy Basel in Switzerland to clinch the top spot.
is needed now More than ever
Our famous street art takes centre stage as the best reason to visit the West Country, but it’s not all about Banksy – the People’s Republic of Stokes Croft outdoor gallery is also picked as a great place to see the many and varied faces of Bristol.
“If there’s something you’ll quickly notice here, is a love for street art. Along narrow alleys and passageways, on building walls and bridges, graffiti art will demand your attention,” Momondo says.
Alternative and underground venues, like The Island, Cosies and Bristol Fringe all feature prominently, giving a well-deserved nod to our great arts and culture scene.
And food and drink is also mentioned: “Munch on Mediterranean-inspired goodies (Bellita), indulge in locally-sourced innovations (Bulrush), and discover your new favourite bread (Hart’s Bakery), all in one day.”
So, if you want to escape the hordes of tourists this summer, here’s Momondo’s best European city breaks of 2017:
1. Bristol, England
2. Graz, Austria
3. Wroclaw, Poland
4. Aarhus, Denmark
5. Funchal, Portugal
6. Turku, Finland
7. Bologna, Italy
