Patchway body confirmed to be DJ Derek

DNA tests have confirmed that human remains found in a wooded area in Patchway are of missing Derek Serpell-Morris, better known as DJ Derek.

A police spokesperson said: “Derek’s family have been updated and our thoughts remain with them at this very difficult time.”

A post-mortem examination carried out earlier this week was inconclusive and further tests are being progressed, but the police are not treating the 73-year-old’s death as suspicious.

Police are continuing to carry out further enquiries on behalf of the Coroner’s Office.
