Timeline: Becky Watts disappearance

Thursday, February 19
Becky Watts is believed to have returned to her home in Crown Hill in St George after spending the night at a friend’s house. Her stepmother Angie-Mae Galsworthy chatted with Becky and last saw her at around 11.15am. Becky then vanished, taking her laptop and mobile phone with her but no money, clothes or makeup.

Sunday, February 22
Avon and Somerset police make their first appeal for information about Becky.

Monday February 23
Becky’s father Darren Galsworthy and grandmother Pat Watts make an appeal for her to return.

Tuesday February 24
Police release a video from DI Richard Ocone, who emphasises to Becky that she is in no trouble.

Wednesday, February 25
On Facebook Becky’s father expresses concern that she could have been sexually assaulted. Police increase their search and urge everyone to get behind an online campaign using the hashtag #findbecky.

Thursday February 26
Avon and Somerset police say their online campaign has reached more than 2 million people across the world. It is revealed that Becky vanished on her brother Danny’s 20th birthday.

Friday, February 27
DI Liz Tunks, head of the major crime investigation unit, takes over as the senior investigating officer. Police from South Wales, Wiltshire, Devon and Cornwall, and Gloucestershire join the search, which includes the pond in St George’s Park and land on Troopers Hill.

Saturday, February 28
Police arrest two people in connection with Becky’s disappearance. Hundreds of people gather to carry out their own searches for Becky.

Sunday, March 1
Homes in Wilton Close in Southmead and Cotton Mill Lane in Barton Hill are searched.

Monday, March 2
Police are granted an extra 36 hours to question the two people arrested over Becky’s disappearance. They later further arrest the two on suspicion of murder. They also appeal for witnesses who saw a black Vauxhall Zafira.

Tuesday, March 3
Police announce that body parts have been found at an address at Barton Court in Barton Hill. Four men and one women are arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender. The two people already under arrest continue to be questioned on suspicion of kidnap and murder.
