Bristol voted the UK’s most inspiring city
From hot air balloons to street art, Bristol’s creative culture has led the city to be named as one of the most inspiring cities in the world.
In the Inspiring Cities Ranking 2016, Bristol comes fourth, alongside international cities such as Miami, Bruges and San Francsisco. Other UK cities listed were Edinburgh, Liverpool, London and Manchester, but Bristol’s innovation beat them into a top-10 position.
The city’s vibrant art, music and theatre scene has also been celebrated as one of the best in the world for its number of performing arts and film facilities.
is needed now More than ever
“I’m delighted that Bristol has been recognised for the inspiring place that it is,” said Louise Mitchell, chief executive of Bristol Music Trust.
“Our rich cultural programme attracts many artists and musicians to make their home here, resulting in a vibrant and creative society. Bristol is the best!”
With the aim to inspire travellers, the list was created by Travel Bird, who compiled a list of individual factors that make a city inspiring, such as museums and independent start-ups, and ranked cities accordingly.
Mayor Marvin Rees added: “Bristol is a great place to live and work. We are a diverse, talented and outward looking city with a world class annual calendar of events that inspire residents and visitors alike.
“I hope our ambition to create a more equal city where nobody is left behind inspires others to do the same.”
