‘Exciting new chapter’ for environmental group

By Ellie Pipe  Monday Feb 5, 2024

A rebrand marks the start of “an exciting new chapter” for the organisation formerly known as Bristol Green Capital Partnership.

First launched in 2007, the environmental network that now goes by the name Bristol Climate & Nature Partnership, played at instrumental role in the city’s successful bid to become the European Green Capital in 2015.

Bosses say this rebrand represents an important evolution of the organisation that has grown in size, ambition and scope and is increasingly focusing on the interconnections between climate and nature action and addressing social inequalities.

The work of Bristol Climate & Nature Partnership includes the Community Action Project, which empowers community organisations to develop their own responses to the climate crisis, and the Climate Action Programme; a free resource for organisations seeking to decarbonise.

Claire Jacob, head of communications & partnerships at Bristol Climate & Nature Partnership, said: “Our brand needed shifting in line with the shifting times. Our ambition, membership and breadth of activity have grown significantly, increasingly focusing not just on the changes needed, but how these changes take place.

“Climate, nature, and social justice are inextricably linked, and we are committed to progressing all three in tandem towards a zero carbon, nature rich, socially just Bristol.”

The partnership works on collaborations and projects that aim to scale up and accelerate citywide action on climate and nature, whilst advocating for community leadership and a just transition.

It also supports the One City Environment Board and the Bristol Advisory Committee on Climate Change, in working towards climate and ecological targets.

Recently, the organisation was announced as a partner in a new £5m project for Bristol, that aims to support local business and communities in transitioning towards net zero in a way that is fast and fair.

Mohammed Saddiq, chair of Bristol Climate & Nature Partnership’s board, said “The partnership has evolved over the past 17 years, but collaborating on climate, nature and improving people’s quality of life have always been central to our work.

“Our updated name and brand mark an exciting new chapter in the partnership’s story. We’re confident that this positive, inclusive, and bold new look will help bring more people together in the journey to creating an even better Bristol.”
