Red Rebel Brigade join Notice This Tree event in Bearpit

By Martin Booth  Tuesday Sep 17, 2024

In recent days, trees across Bristol have been wrapped with banners saying ‘notice this tree’.

It was leading up to the Notice This Tree event which began in the Bearpit and concluded at the Cube, inviting people to reflect and share their connections with local trees.

The Red Rebel Brigade joined in at the Bearpit, where there were speeches before those gathered made their way to the nearby Cube cinema in Kingsdown.

One person spoke for “a beautiful” horse chestnut tree on Horfield Common.

“I have enjoyed and appreciated it and loved sitting underneath it with my children,” she said.

Another speaker also invited those gathered to an event on Saturday marking the third anniversary of the ‘tree brides’ getting married to the trees at Baltic Wharf.

She said: “There are 80 trees protecting us all from the floods down there… for now the trees are still there and we are still there.

“Please come along and join us. People power can make the change.
