Andy Council celebrates 20 years of his Bristol dinosaur with huge new mural
In the 20 years since he created his first Bristol dinosaur, Andy Council has incorporated hundreds of Bristol locations old and new onto not just dinosaurs but a number of different creatures from whales to chickens.
His horse has been a well-known feature of West Street in Bedminster for more than a decade, a Bristol dinosaur model is on display at M Shed, and at the latest edition of Upfest he painted a tortoise and hare alongside regular collaborator Acerone.
To mark the anniversary of the dinosaur, Council has painted a 60sq metre mural in Cabot Circus of a tyrannosaurus rex.

The new piece commissioned by Cabot Circus and coordinated by Upfest is at the entrance to the former Showcase cinema which has just been announced will become a new Odeon.
As always, there are so many familiar places to spot – with a few including the glass of Cabot Circus, the windows of the Tobacco Factory and the We the Curious planetarium given the addition of a bit of sparkle.
Alongside some of Bristol’s most well-known landmarks such as the Suspension Bridge and Wills Memorial Building, keep a look out for Dean Lane skatepark, the Knowle water tower and the Jamia Mosque in Totterdown.
There is even a fire burning on Turbo Island.

Smaller versions of the new mural are available to buy as giclee prints from the Upfest website and from their shop on North Street.
