Banksy reveals he meant to shred entire artwork

By Bristol24/7  Thursday Oct 18, 2018

Banksy’s self-shredding artwork was meant to be entirely shredded but the machine malfunctioned, the elusive graffiti artist has revealed.

Publishing a ‘director’s cut’ version of the behind the scenes video, Banksy wrote that the shredder hidden inside the frame had worked every time while he and his team set up the stunt.

The Bristol artist also revealed the mechanism was started by somebody sat in the auction room with a remote control.

The artwork, Girl With Balloon, sold at Sotheby’s for more than one million pounds, but the new artwork created, now renamed Love is in the Bin, is thought to now be worth significantly more.
