Bristol painter Andrew Hood to exhibit at KIT FORM
Usually based at Jamaica Street Studios (JSS), Andrew Hood is a contemporary fine artist and illustrator whose work has been exhibited widely in the UK and Europe.
From October 10, he will be presenting his first major solo exhibition, City to Coast, at KIT FORM – the newly-opened artist-led gallery space beneath JSS.
He describes the collection as a body of work inspired by “the vibrancy of European cities” along with “the serene beauty of Devon and Cornwall’s coastlines”.
is needed now More than ever
From Paris to Puglia, the freedom and energy of his evocative style is influenced by abstract expressionism to create a strong sense of place.

That said, many of the pieces on show are indicative of the fact that it’s actually much closer to home where Hood gains a good deal of his artistic inspiration. “I have lived in Bristol for over 20 years,” he reflects.
“There are so many different and beautiful sections to it. I love sketching the city and seeking out parts which inspire me to make new paintings.

“I have chosen a more muted and softer colour palette for this Bristol series. I wanted to make the paintings different to my European paintings to convey the quieter side of Bristol.
“I often paint fairly innocuous parts of the city that people walk up and down everyday without taking too much notice of them. The colour palette suits this mood.”
Andrew Hood: City to Coast is at KIT FORM on October 10-27.
Opening night is on Thursday 10 from 6pm followed by DJs + Steve Davis from 8pm-midnight (RSVP); there is a private view on Saturday 12 at 11am-6pm (RSVP), and a Guerilla Kitchen street food pop up on Friday 18 from 6pm-midnight.
