Halloween display at Room 212 showcases artists including UWE Graduate Batty Deville
Bristol mixed media Sarah Thorp is also the owner of Gloucester Road shop and gallery, Room 212.
It’s a familiar spot for art fans north of the river, and a key stop on the North Bristol Art Trail, this year due to take place over the weekend of November 23-24.
Thorp curates regular exhibitions and windows that champion new and emerging local artists. With the onset of Autumn, she has created a Halloween display based around the work of a recent UWE illustration graduate.

Batty Deville’s aesthetic caught her attention while attending the 2024 UWE Degree show, and since putting it front and centre at Room 212, Thorp has had “such amazing reaction” to the display.
Complementing Deville’s images, she has brought in a further collection of what she terms “weird and wonderful Halloween and Day of the Dead-inspired work” – from the upcycled Barbies of Lou Gray, aka Lou’s Dollirium, to original paintings from Gargoyle Dream and handmade cards from Maita Robinson.

“It’s been a while since I planned a fun and theatrical window display for Room 212 and its lovely to feel inspired,” says Thorp.
“Now that the summer’s pretty much over we need plans to keep joy and light going as the Autumn rolls in!”
