Illegal raves are now illegal

By Martin Booth  Thursday Jul 22, 2021

‘Illegal raves are now illegal’ says the giant lettering on one billboard in Old Market near Trinity.

Another trio of billboards near Temple Meads spell out the word ‘banger’.

They are part of a nationwide takeover of Buildhollywood poster sites across the UK that are promoting an artist’s new studio.

The new studio, Maison de Bang Bang from Jonny Banger, best known for the Sports Banger brand, is now open in London’s Seven Sisters.

“My mate from Odyssey Soundsystem said ‘illegal raves are now illegal’ and it’s true,” Jonny Banger told Buildhollywood’s website.

“The police have just this month set up Britain’s biggest task force to crack down on illegal raves and the Met police are launching a summer crackdown on them. Criminal Justice Act 1994 – the reprise.

“The Maison De Bang Bang billboards are a nod to our new studio and work moving forwards. BANGER is banger. The bigger the better. You never get given free billboards, let alone three in a row.”

The billboard on Clarence Road in Old Market has recently been used as a giant piece of art questioning hyperconsumerism and was also taken over by Led By Donkeys prior to the Euro 2020 final.
