Inkie replaces Banksy on Thekla

By Martin Booth  Wednesday Sep 10, 2014

The spot on the side of the Thekla that was once home to Banksy’s Grim Reaper before it was removed last month to be put on display at the M-shed will become a regularly changing canvas with some of Bristol’s best street artists invited to paint a new piece on the panel several times a year.

Inkie is the first to appear on the hull, having painted his artwork while the Thekla is still in dry dock.

“After taking the Banksy off the boat to be restored, we thought it was only right to have something in its place and what better than an original Inkie,” says Thekla promotions manager Pat Somers.

The Thekla will soon return to its usual home at The Grove and reopens to the public on September 18.
