Jamaica Street prepares for Open Studios 2024
Fresh from the success of their crowdfunder to purchase the building, Jamaica Street Studios will be welcoming visitors for their annual Open Studios weekend on September 20-22.
The Grade II-listed former carriage-works is currently home to 35 artists working across a broad range of disciplines, including painting, photography, sculpture and film.
They include well-known mural artist and illustrator Dave Bain, award-winning multi-disciplinary artist Dorcas Casey – who is currently working on a large-scale public art commission for Temple Quarter’s flagship Welcome Building – and the t-shirt creator Chris Wright, aka Turbo Island.

Visitors will be able to peruse the studios as well as the newly opened ground floor exhibition and event space, KIT FORM.
The weekend will feature the launch of a new Arbor Ales x JSS collaborative beer, as well as the ever-popular Annual Fundraiser Auction on Sunday afternoon.
“Open Studios is our way of sharing what we do with our supporters, friends and the wider community,” says studio manager Rosie Bowery.
“It’s an amazing opportunity to see what takes place here, showcasing a central part of Bristol life. It’s also our flagship annual fundraiser – every artist here donates a piece of work that anyone can bid on and it’s an entertaining live highlight to our weekend.”
Open Studios is at Jamaica Street Studios on September 20-22, with a launch and party event from 6pm on Friday, and weekend opening from 11am-5pm on Saturday and 11am-4pm on Sunday, followed by the auction.
