Art / Lisa Takahashi

Local artist selected for prestigious national show

By Steve Wright  Wednesday Aug 16, 2017

Two linocut prints by Bristol artist Lisa Takahashi have been selected from over 1,300 submissions to appear alongside paintings by some of Britain’s leading marine artists. Lisa’s prints will be on view at the Royal Society of Marine Artists (RSMA) Annual Exhibition will be on display at central London’s Mall Galleries from October 5-14.

Lisa created the prints (Sailing at Dusk, detail, above; Surfers, below) at Spike Print Studio, using the same 100-year-old Albion Press that she used to create The Chain Gang, her Royal Academy Summer Exhibition sell-out edition of prints.

The RSMA Annual Exhibition has come to be recognised as the most prestigious and varied exhibition of marine art in the UK. The exhibition’s theme is the sea and everything related to it, from beaches and creeks to harbours and boats.

The country’s premier marine art exhibition, it will feature almost 400 works from emerging and established artists across a range of media, including oil painting, watercolour, pastels, prints, and sculpture. All works are available for sale.
