Photographer shares his love for ‘all things property’
As one Albanian proverb makes clear: “The sun at home warms better than the sun elsewhere.”
No matter where we are, each of us yearns for the feeling of returning home to our bedroom, our bathroom, our living room – our safe space.
For more than a decade now, Leighton James has spent hours photographing people’s homes and capturing their spirit. His pictures are admired by over 190,000 people on Instagram.
is needed now More than ever
It all started when James’ close friend Nick Stopard, co-founder of Boardwalk estate agents, asked him to take a few pictures for the agency.

James said: “I jumped at the opportunity and immediately discovered a love for all things property. I started my Instagram account and started to share some of the intriguing spaces I was capturing.
“Having the creative freedom to show a property at its best was so much fun. That passion has grown with time and I am now lucky enough to work with many incredible clients.”
James has since filmed and photographed many architectural marvels in the city, so much so that he doesn’t even remember the first property he took a photo of. He has found beauty in all of them.

The photographer continued: “There have been so many incredible homes that I’ve been fortunate enough to step inside but my most recent would have to be a beautiful Victorian period home renovation in Southville, which I visited on two separate occasions for two different clients.
It featured a really incredible bespoke green kitchen and the most stunning glazed side return. There’s just something about blending the old and the new which I love!”
“There are many things that stand out for me in the properties I capture.
“Each and every space is so individual and my clients put so much love into each project.
“My personal favourites are period features and I have a real passion for authentic design – think stained glass, cornice, original fireplaces and tiles!”
