Move over Banksy, here’s Handzy
A mysterious artist has installed their latest handiwork in one of Bristol’s most picturesque thoroughfares.
Midway along Birdcage Walk in Clifton is a golden hand that is appearing to emerge from one of the lamps that hang above the path.
The only clue as to its origin is some lettering that is likely to be the artist’s signature: ‘Handzy’
is needed now More than ever

Although nothing is known about Handzy, the model of the hand is a precise mould with its fingers pointing downwards above unsuspecting passers-by.
It brings to mind the work of Gregos, a Parisian artist who attaches moulds of his face to walls across the world including a few around Bristol.
Handzy’s work can be found around halfway along Birdcage Walk, between Clifton Hill and Clifton Road.
The path heads through the graveyard of the former St Andrew’s Church, what used to be the parish church of Clifton.
St Andrew’s Church was badly damaged during a bombing raid on November 24 1940 but the building remained as a ruin until 1956 when it was demolished, with only its churchyard now remaining.
